Was there really a Trojan Horse? Was there really a place called Troy?

This is an active archeological site and work continues today.
Archaeologists have determined that there have been 10 versions of Troy over time. 3000 to 2500 BCE was the first settlement , likely a small village with fortified walls.
The second version was 2300 BCE. Each layer revealing new developments in skill and technology. At one point there was new evidence of a potters wheel used for pottery.

This early version of Troy, was made with mud bricks and this protective cover built overtop shows the height the soil covering these old walls.

Why was Troy important? It was on a river the port to the Dardanelles. During the Bronze Age, Troy had knives, and tools, made of bronze again a new technology. To make bronze they needed copper and tin. They needed access to these materials and like today when wars are started to gain access to energy resources, oil and gas, the Trojan War was started not over Helen of Troy but to gain access to essential minerals for power, to control access to the Dardanelles.

The last version of Troy was of course the Roman one. Here is a community gathering place, the amphitheater.
